I was given this recipe years ago by Beverly Painter of Blue Ridge, GA - who made this for us ane night, and I was and so excited to find it online hither. Subsequently reading the other reviewers comments, I used sharp cheddar, 2 cans of dark-green beans, and four oz sour cream. Other than that, I fabricated information technology according to the recipe. This came out of the oven with a overnice taste - and raves from my picky family. Thanks for sharing... For next time, I would probably cook the onion, celery, and light-green bell pepper, prior to mixing the rest of the goulash together.
12/27/2004
This is a family favorite. I use but 1/2 cup of sour cream and for the topping use crushed cheese crackers mixed with a small purse of slivered fair-skinned almonds mixed into the butter. Lookout man the salt because the cheese crackers are salty. Also use precipitous cheese. Enjoy.
04/14/2007
This is then yummy! The just modify I make is to use all white corn and no green beans. I have made this for a few years now at all family events and passed the recipe on to many. Family favorite for sure!
10/sixteen/2005
This was pretty skillful, but the veggie amounts listed in the recipie were a flake sparse. I nigh doubled them all and added onions and garlic. I also mixed sliced almonds in to add some texture and used them as the topping. They added a great crisis (non to mention the health benefits) and browned very nicely.
xi/17/2010
This is my Green Bean Casserole recipe minus the fresh veggies and add two boosted cans of green beans. Sometimes I use Frenchs Fried onions on top instead of Ritz Crackers.
11/05/2007
I've been using this recipe for years. Nosotros Dearest information technology!!! I usually use 3 cans of shoepeg corn, simply sometimes I use two regular sized cans of yellow corn. I also utilize a sharper cheese and crushed Cheezit crackers. It's very piece of cake to brand and actually yummy!!
04/05/2001
This was bland and needed a diverseness of spices to requite it more flavor. Besides, all the measurements were off when scaled to 4 servings and then that if you lot were using fresh or frozen vegetables information technology was hard to compare with canned vegetable measurements. I don't purchase annihilation in a can when the fresh produce department is an aisle away! Still information technology could be doctored enough to repeat.
10/20/2002
I made this for a Sunday dinner. The corn stayed crispy. I was very surprised, because I commonly don't purchase canned vegetables. My hubby love this recipe and I will make this over again.
11/24/2005
I got this recipe years agone from the female parent of a shut friend, and information technology has been a family favorite e'er since. This is the best recipe, not at all bland; yet, I practise use sharp cheddar cheese.
09/twenty/2008
Oh my gosh this was delish. I made this last night and I reallllyyyy wish I had some leftovers to consume for lunch. It was creamy and so flavorful. I tweaked the recipe a petty bit because i had one big chile in adobo to apply up so i cutting it upward and threw it in. And so good. I made it tangy and zesty. Loved this recipe, will exist making it for thanksgiving!!
06/xv/2011
I would skip the cracker crust & greenish beans -- information technology comes out too much like green been casserole. I topped w/cheese & added more corn instead of the green beans. It was very proficient this way.
11/15/2011
With changes, a five star recipe. ane shallot minced 1lb. freshly grated abrupt cheddar cheese 2 cans shoepeg corn, drained(frozen if yous can find it) 2 xvi oz bags frozen French cutting green beans(defrosted and well tuckered) 2 cans cream of celery soup 8 oz. sour cream 1/2 cup cream cheese four cups crushed Ritz crackers one cup melted butter Mix soup, sour cream, cream cheese and minced shallot, spread in bottom of large cassarole dish. Broil at 350F covered with foil until bubbly. Remove foil and bake until crackers brown.
01/31/2007
This is pretty proficient. The shoepeg corn stays nice and crispy. It also makes quite a flake. I added some cubed ham to the leftovers. Very yummy! I'll probably put the ham in right away next time I brand this.
12/12/2010
I Love this recipe! I fabricated it for three different Thanksgiving dinners this year and it wont stop in that location. Anybody loved information technology and complimented. The just trouble was non having any leftovers!
01/09/2010
My family unit has been making this recipe for years (although nosotros eliminate the chopped celery) ... I've never taken it to a potluck without raves and recipe requests. For a variation, endeavour substituting diced dark-green chili for the bell pepper (canned is fine). YUM!!
06/xv/2007
Honey this recipe. Consistently a favorite at potlucks and family unit gatherings. I like to put slivered almonds on the top for a niggling crunchiness. Full of flavor if you inquire me!
08/05/2011
Great season! Super easy to make. Longest step is melting the butter!
05/19/2010
Loved it! I would pre-cook the onion, peppers, & celery next time, tho, as they were still crunchy.
12/19/2011
This has become a favorite recipe, made it twice in 1 calendar week......5 people have requested the recipe! What is smashing is that y'all tin brand it the night before (refrigerate) and bake an hour earlier you need it!
08/02/2011
This similiar recipe was given to me 25 years ago when I got married, only mixed 1 can of white corn and one can of sweet yellowish corn, using Precipitous cheddar cheese, salt and pepper, garlic and a little scrap of dry out mustard, (1 tsp), and each fourth dimension I make information technology there is'nt Whatever left!
11/29/2002
I thought information technology would be smashing, but my family didn't intendance for it. Very banal tasting.
12/18/2010
I've made this several times now and while I love the original recipe I also like this with a few alterations. I saute all the veggies beforehand. I omit the green beans, increment the bell peppers (using red, orange and yellow for more than color) and add mushrooms. I too add sauteed minced garlic, ane/two tablespoon Italian herbs, 1/2 loving cup of Parmesan to the sour foam/soup mixture and a nuance of cayenne pepper.
04/22/2010
This was yummy! I put in some shredded chicken right before I broiled information technology. Perfect one dish meal! But had some bread on the side... the merely thing I might modify next time is to use cream of mushroom instead of cream of celery. I'm just not a big fan of celery. :) In that location was plenty for our family unit of four and nosotros even had leftovers... and they were better the adjacent twenty-four hour period! Will def brand this again.
12/04/2003
I made this for Thanksgiving and it was a HIT. I used the bigger can of shoepeg corn, and yet information technology was a little soupy, I'g going to try an extra tin can of green beans side by side fourth dimension. But, this is definitely a new family favorite!!
12/11/2008
Practiced taste just needs some protein like a can of flaked tuna! I would also add diced green chilies and whole chopped light-green beans non the french type. Kind of disappointing for a main dish.
02/05/2011
Huge hit as part of a turkey dinner for my married man and his buddies! Wouldn't alter a matter
11/25/2011
I made this and got great reviews from our guests... I used two cans corn and no green beans every bit I already had green beans on the menu. The topping I used Canned Fried Onions and no butter for a healthier version.
01/25/2012
Not that great.
xi/sixteen/2006
Uncomplicated and tasty, what more could you ask?
01/14/2012
This was wonderful! It was and so adept I made it twice in a row. Just the right combination- very like shooting fish in a barrel only still impressive!
xi/26/2010
This is a good casserole. I'd suggest using more than corn.
04/04/2010
This was good, only next time I go far I volition 'tweak it' a fleck. The chopped veggies were still a fiddling too crunchy and then I would saute those before mixing with the rest. Utilise more corn and some seasoning...and a precipitous cheddar, information technology was a tad bland.
12/02/2010
First-class vegetarian side dish. I followed others suggestions and used sharp cheese and precooked the veggies before adding.
10/31/2006
I make this every Christmas and my family loves information technology! It is a keen culling to the traditional green edible bean goulash.
08/31/2003
Very expert, very tasty, very easy. A great fall/wintertime dish (though I made it for the get-go time in the summer).
02/01/2010
This was absolute comfort nutrient. Fantabulous taste. I added more of the veggies (I bought frozen rather than canned beans/corn) and put both whole packages in. Added some extra soup/sour cream to recoup. Just succulent.
11/08/2004
This recipe has been used in my family for almost 30 Years!Information technology came from my grandmother and because it looks a little funny (since everything is all mixed together with sour cream and creamed soup) we started calling it, "UGLY Goulash"! It is a staple for our family unit gatherings.
07/04/2006
I ate this at a July 4 barbeque over 10 years ago, and now I make it every year! I think information technology goes well with summer foods as well. Thanks for the recipe--I just moved and mine is packed abroad!
04/07/2009
I was really wary of this recipe. While the ingredients sounded fine, in one case they were mixed together I idea that I might have to call out for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised! Information technology was very yummy and had a lot of awesome veggies.
02/10/2010
Wow! I needed to brand a goulash for work. This was a fabulous choice. For the record, I am not a goulash-lover. I was one of those kids who did not like her foods to touch. But I took one for the team and offered to make a casserole. Information technology was a striking at work. It was MOIST, only not runny. The cracker crust was Fabled. When making it, I did not follow the recipe exactly, because ane) when I sent my hubby to shop, he brought back low sodium foam of celery; two) I only had sharp cheddar, so that'due south what I used; and I prefer kitchen cutting k. beans over french cut (I have issues). As far every bit I can tell, none of that matter. If I had followed the recipe exactly, I can't imagine it being much better. It was one of the few dishes that disappeared immediately at our office potluck. Thanks for sharing.
03/03/2020
This was skilful. I retrieve that next time I'll add together more corn, merely this was something new for my family and a nice change of pace.
eleven/14/2012
I saute the onions, celery and bong pepper in the butter and then add to the remaining ingredients. I likewise use the Ritz flip side crackers instead of the cheese crackers. I love this recipe and it tin can easily be doubled for a large oversupply. Heats ups well the next day for left overs.
eleven/17/2009
Didn't love information technology, even though I've made similar recipes before and liked them. My kids and married man really didn't intendance for it either, so I won't be making it once again! May be just personal preference--sorry!
xi/eighteen/2008
A huge hitting! This recipe is very easy to make and it does make alot. Not bad equally left overs either!
10/25/2011
my favorite...honey information technology!
04/eleven/2010
My gustatory modality buds were then happy with this! I sauteed the onion and celery prior to baking since we don't like crunchy onions. Then added some croaky black pepper. Went well with steak and salad. Very good.
02/01/2011
very good I followed recipe exactly
12/17/2008
I really like it. I made information technology twice then far. Very creamy. The showtime time I did information technology as directed. The 2nd time I added a little more vegetables. Besides, I personally practise not like celery so I did not add together the peices of celery to mine. I dearest the recipe though. It's very good.
01/08/2011
OMG! This was amazing! Will at present exist a staple at Thanksgiving. Thanks.
xi/25/2011
Loved it! I made this yesterday in replace of our traditional corn goulash that I usually make every year. Wanted to effort something different this yr and I'chiliad glad I did. I got lots of complients yesterday. The only thing different I did was use lowfat sour cream and I doubled the recipe, just only had ane tin can of crm of celery. Still very good. Wasn't sure what crackers to use and so I used Ritz. Yummy!
09/06/2008
I made this goulash and it was delicious! The only thing I did different was add a bit of salt and pepper to taste.
02/24/2019
I demand recipes to melt for a shelter: nutritious, quantity, tasty, affordable. To this recipe I added shredded pieces of large, cooked half-breast of chicken. Used 2 cans corn, ane of green beans, chopped uncooked onion, greenish & cerise pepper (didn't have celery), and additional half-can of mushroom soup (considering I had it in 'fridge). Topped with one-half pkg. of corn stuffing sautéed in 4 T butter; this increased the corn season. My family unit gave a thumbs-up; it will exist our shelter meal this week.
07/05/2009
WOW!! This recipie is awsome. I didn't alter anything and have made this twice this calendar week considering it was so practiced. It is a great comfort nutrient. I will brand this again and again. I have already told 5 people about this recipie.
11/xi/2009
I accept fabricated this goulash for years. It's 1 of my about requested recipes. I even had a relative phone call me years after eating information technology to enquire for the recipe. We take information technology for all holidays and family gatherings. I use half the amount of sour cream unless I'one thousand doubling the recipe.
eleven/07/2010
I've made this recipe for years. Originally got information technology from a Mississippi cookbook developed by Southern Bell employees. The cookbook was chosen Bell's Best. This is a must for all of our Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. I double the amount of green beans, then double the entire recipe because everyone loves it so much! I also add slivered almonds on acme, which makes it very pretty and adds a petty crunch.
09/01/2010
Very nice, tasty, filling dish. Only mod was to saute the onion, celery, green pepper a bit prior to mixing with the rest. Used i/two of the sour crean called for.
04/07/2012

We have used this casserole for Thanksgiving and Christmas for as long as I can recall!
11/29/2008
My family absolutely loves this goulash. It has become a Thanksgiving staple. This yr I did not have sour cream and substituted very soft cream cheese. WOW!!! We liked it fifty-fifty better.
11/26/2010
This has go a new vacation staple! It is an like shooting fish in a barrel dish to experiment with as well based on the likes/dislikes of the eaters. I left out the bong pepper (because information technology'southward not a favorite of my family) but you lot tin try out different vegetables. Next fourth dimension I'thou going to give information technology a scrap of spice and use mexican corn, pepperjack cheese and some tomates and green chiles!
03/11/2020
This was so good!
05/07/2019
This was very good. Used canned French green beans and cream of mushroom soup. Was a flake too soupy and then next time will leave out the sour cream. Didn't use the crackers.

Wasn't bad, I'd make information technology for a family get together just not for my husband and I again.
02/28/2019
used Cheezit crackers and slivered almonds on top with drizzled butter. Information technology is always loved even by our kids. Just as proficient reheated equally leftover if you accept any left!
12/24/2009
Since I'k not a lover of celery or green beens, I substituted those 2 with diced potatoes. All the other ingredients worked actually well in this recipe. I got so many compliments for it today! :)
12/06/2009
Added more onion and celery than recipe called for and substituted with cream of mushroom (all i had in my cupboard) non the less, this came out very expert. Cheers!
12/02/2013
This was a good recipe. The only change I made was I used iii cans of corn and 1 tin of green beans. I didn't particularly like the crackers on top so next fourth dimension I will omit them.
10/03/2021
Added chopped chicken chest meat and used everything crackers. I likewise eliminated peppers. Very very good!
03/04/2019
awesome taste. will be easier to make now that i know it takes 1/four large onion, 2 stalks celery and 1/4 green pepper instead of cups measurements. i can throw the veggies into the nutrient processor to pulse instead of chopping by paw.
03/26/2016
Huge hit at my Christmas dinner. At that place was not i slice of corn left in the bowl. And every married woman wanted the recipe. And now that it'southward easter the dinner host wants me to make this again for our Easter dinner. Yummy
04/14/2014
I take used this recipe for years but I have always used cream of craven and mushroom soup instead of the foam of celery. That is my family unit's favorite version and its a family unit staple for our vacation gatherings.
xi/18/2009
I should take added less sour cream like some of the reviews said. It was way besides saucy. Expert flavor though.
09/09/2014

Quick Like shooting fish in a barrel and delicious! Will def make again and again!
11/12/2010
I followed the recipe to the T and information technology was entirely too 'soupy' for me. It really lacked something. Information technology was too runny. Peradventure if you added more corn or green beans or even rice or potatoes this would have been bettter. Will not be making again...
12/01/2010
This recipe was such a hit this Thanksgiving! The first time I made it, I followed the recipe exactly. The second time effectually though I actually fabricated a few changes to the recipe. I used 1 regular size can and 1 small can of shoepeg white corn. I cut the sour cream back to a i/ii cup, and used about a footling over a cup of abrupt cheddar cheese. I too let it bake in the oven for a total hr. I am not kidding when I say it was the favorite side dish at the table!
11/24/2014
this is peachy for thanksgiving dinner! I would recommend sauté the veggies for a few minutes before adding it to the casserole. doesn't add any more than trouble really, and then worth information technology. I also should note that I added two cans of corn, and 2 cans of French cut light-green beans, and didn't really measure the other veggies, just added a whole onion, 3 celery spears. was bang-up
06/05/2014
Sounded interesting so I made information technology. It was awesome! Took it to a pot luck and everyone loved it.
02/26/2020
I loved trying this recipe. It is very adept, and something different to try when it comes to vegetable side dishes. Information technology doesn't have a strong flavor to information technology, but I enjoyed a mellow creamy and cheesy veggie dish.
09/04/2014
I thought this was succulent. Unfortunately, my family did non agree! This makes a lot (or perhaps I just felt that way because I was responsible for eating it all) and then I would recommend making this for big family dinners or potlucks.
11/22/2018
You tin can make everything just the topping the night before and allow information technology sit down in the fridge, then bake it the next day. Seems to taste amend that style. Also this is ane of those recipes that tastes smashing as a leftover! Also, I don't like bell pepper so I omit it. I use the cheese crackers as another person suggested and as well add the almonds.
03/06/2011
This was not very proficient. Information technology was soupy and merely overall not that flavory.
04/06/2022
This is a great bones recipe, ane of those you do anything with. I layer the ingredients with cut upwardly craven chest and cheese and supervene upon the green beans with broccoli. Also good with shrimp.
Fantabulous recipe.
09/23/2020
I learned this recipe (not this exact one peradventure) as a trivial girl when my grandma was notwithstanding alive. Information technology'southward always a huge hit and turns into a holiday staple, so I ordinarily make double the recipe. This recipe is here to stay with my family, for sure!
03/14/2017
Followed the recipe closely the start time. In the futurity, I'll add more shredded cheese, as I LOVE cheese. I'll combine the soup and sour foam in a separate basin before adding to the main dish. Loved the topping with Ritz crackers simply might try information technology with Panko breadstuff crumbs just for variety.
03/14/2020
This was so easy and delicious! I mixed everything up in a bandage iron pan and cooked it in that. Perfect! It'due south going to be my new go to potluck casserole.
11/16/2008
I cut the corporeality of crackers in half and the amount of butter downwardly from eight Tbs to iii Tbs. I used foam of chicken soup. I used garden corn and beans and I liked this very much. I would take rated it five stars if not for the big amount of butter in the original recipe.
11/24/2018
Nosotros used frozen instead of canned corn and tasted breadstuff crumbs. Information technology was astonishing.
08/04/2010
I made this at home, and although information technology was a good base of operations for other experiments, by itself, information technology was very bland. But this recipe is useful when you want to start with a foundation and then go off doing your ain thing. I made it exactly as information technology said, only to get in meliorate, I topped the unabridged surface with cheese. Made it a bunch bettter.
11/27/2010
This was very skilful! I added more cheese than the recipe chosen for and I used a mixture of cheese because it was what I had on hand. It got multiple compliments, and I will be making it again for Christmas.
07/12/2006
I idea this was really tasty, and piece of cake. It is high in fatty, though. I used saltine crackers and low fat sour cream.
